Technology Exploration Career Center East and Ewing Subaru of Plano take 1st Place in the 2021 Auto Tech Competition! The North Texas Subaru Retailers & Subaru University are working to develop the careers of future technicians through local educational programs. The North Texas Subaru Retailers were proud to support two local high school teams, as they partnered with a local Subaru Retailer to compete in the regional 2021 Auto Tech Competition. One team of three seniors from Lewisville ISD’s Technology Exploration Career Center -East trained at school and at Ewing Subaru of Plano, while the second team of three seniors from Irving ISD’s Ratteree Career Development Center trained at Five Star Subaru of Grapevine. Both teams, along with 23 other regional teams, competed for a chance to win scholarships and tools as they move forward in their career in automotive technology. The 2021 Auto Tech Competition was held at Texas Motor Speedway’s Indy Garage. Program Overview As vehicles become more technically advanced, the need for highly skilled technicians continues to increase. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates the number of qualified technicians needed nationwide will rise to around 780,000 by the year 2024, representing a 5% YOY increase in demand.
